Student One Card for Student Success!

Student Success Initiative

In 2016-17, with a grant from the California State Library, the Pacific Library Partnership (PLP) and NorthNet Library System (NLS) joined forces to support The Student Success Initiative.  The Initiative created a pilot program of partnerships between school districts and 15 local public libraries to enable students access to public library resources using their school-issued student identification cards.  In 2017-18, the Student Success Initiative expanded with a statewide grant with 51 participating libraries. In 2018-19, it has further expanded to over 60 libraries. The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District and the Livermore Public Library are proud to be part of this expansion!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What student information will Livermore Valley Unified Joint School District (LVJUSD) share with the Livermore Public Library (LPL)?

  • LVJUSD will share the student's name, school, grade, Student ID number, home address and phone number, student’s date of birth, and parent and/or guardian’s name. Our partnership includes a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU); the Livermore Library has signed an agreement not to share student information with other entities.

Can the Student One Card be used at all Livermore library branches?

  • The Student One Card can be used at the Civic Center, Rincon and Springtown library locations.

What if my child already has a Livermore Public Library card?

  • If your child already has a card with the Livermore Public Library, his/her student ID number will be added to the existing library account. This will enable your child to use Livermore Public Library resources from home and school via the internet. Your child can continue to use his/her LPL card to check out materials and for online access, or may use his/her student ID card.

Can a Student One Card accrue fines or fees?

  • As of July 1, 2019, the Livermore Public Library moved from an overdue fines model to a materials recovery model. This means that patrons will no longer owe an overdue fine if they need to return an item a few days late. In order to encourage the return of materials so others may enjoy them, patrons with items overdue by one week or more will not be able to check out additional items until the late items have been returned. Patrons will still be billed for the cost of an item once it is four weeks overdue. Learn more about the return policy on the Library's website.

What if I don’t want my child to participate in the Student One Card Program?

  • Should you not want your child to participate in this program, please complete an Opt-out form and turn into your school's office.
